Harrison Community Schools joins 537 local and 56 intermediate school districts across Michigan to celebrate January as School Board Recognition Month. Celebrating School Board Recognition Month is one of the very small ways to express appreciation for all they do.
School board members represent the views and priorities of our community in the complex system of maintaining and running public schools. They also reinforce the principle of local control over public education, which is an important, highly valued aspect of education in Michigan.

Schools tend to celebrate the end of a school year, not the calendar year. But we've got a lot to be proud of in 2025!
In order to keep staff safe, our administrative offices will be closed on Monday, December 29 due to current/predicted weather and road conditions.

This morning, Deputy Chinavare conducted an "outside threat mode" lockdown drill across our campuses. This mode would be used for a threat that exists in our community, outside of school. For example, if a local store suffers an armed robbery and the perpetrator was on the loose, we would be placed into this mode by law enforcement. If a class is outside for recess, they are immediately brought back into the building. Learning continues inside the school, and students and staff are free to move around inside the building. However, during this time, we do not open our doors to anyone except law enforcement - no one comes in or goes out, not even staff.

Tonight's high school band concert is postponed until tomorrow, Thursday, December 11. Call time remains the same for musicians, as does the concert start time of 6:00 pm.
