Beginning in the 2024-25 school year, our 6th-12th graders will be enjoying dedicated choice reading time during the school day. This builds on the rich tradition founded during preK-5, and is intended to enrich both reading stamina and comprehension. We are seeking donations for age-appropriate books and magazines, ages 11-18, to build classroom libraries. Donations will be accepted at our administrative offices on Tuesdays and Thursdays all summer. Thanks in advance! #HornetPride

Hornet Nation, Eighty years ago today, brave soldiers, airmen, marines, and sailors stormed or protected the beaches of Normandy, to continue the liberation of Europe from the tyranny of Nazism and fascism. More than 2,000 of them lost their lives that day. Selfishly, it makes me think of my own father. He served in the 3265th Ordnance Company of the 615th Army Brigade, and benefitted from the heroic work done on June 6 and beyond. His company crossed the English Channel in November of 1944, and landed at Omaha Beach. As they made their way first to Paris, then on to Beaune, my dad said that the bombing and fighting had destroyed almost everything they passed along the way, except for some churches and the city of Paris. Other than my sisters and me, he always said that his army service during WW2 was the thing he was most proud of. Please feel free to honor someone who served with a comment, and be sure to watch this short video honoring some who were able to make the trip to Normandy and are being celebrated today on those same beaches.
