Harrison 2023 graduate Malea Gardner played in the MHSSCA All Star Game on Wednesday, July 19th. She had a single in the game. She is the third Hornet to play in this all star game (Hillary Brewer in 2012 and Allison Lipovsky in 2015). Way to represent Hornet Nation Malea!!
With a small group, we launched our first HCS/Business Community Lunch & Roundtable today. We had representatives from a variety of fields, including construction, retail, finance, health/medical, city government, insurance, and education. We discussed employment hiring trends and needs, potential skill gaps with new hires, and ways in which we might come together to collaboratively and positively impact the future stories of our students and the greater Harrison community. The conversations were rich, and the energy was high!
Now that we know there is an "appetite" for this endeavor, we are ready and excited to enlarge the group. If a representative of your business would like to join our next lunch/roundtable discussion, tentatively scheduled for October (day TBD), please email our superintendent at juwalton@harrisonschools.com. #HornetNation #HornetPride

Good morning, Hornet Nation! After last week's upgrade to our telephone server, some of us in the district administrative office are hitting snags in retrieving our voicemail messages. We appreciate your patience as we get the bugs worked out this morning - we will retrieve and respond to your voicemails as soon as possible.
Please be advised that we are updating our telephone server today. This may cause some random but brief outages throughout the day. Connected calls may drop and incoming/outgoing calls will fail. Thank you for your patience.
If you're looking for some fun science ideas to do with your child this summer, look no further! The ideas were provided by Richard Byrne, a tech teacher in Maine. Once you have the document open, the hyperlinks will be accessible.

Jack Pine Conference Press Release:
The Jack Pine Conference has a long-standing tradition of promoting excellence in academics, sportsmanship and athletics and we are excited to expand and extend that tradition with the addition of four new member schools: Bullock Creek, Ogemaw Heights, St. Louis and Standish-Sterling high schools.
These four schools will be joining the JPC starting in the 2024-25 school year and will undoubtedly help elevate the Jack Pine Conference to new heights. This addition will not only enhance the conference's overall strength but will also foster an environment of healthy competition, collaboration and camaraderie among our schools and communities.
"We are delighted to welcome Bullock Creek, Ogemaw Heights, St. Louis and Standish-Sterling to the Jack Pine Conference,” said Jack Kramer, JPC Commissioner. “Their dedication to academics, athletics and sportsmanship aligns well with our core values and we are confident that their participation will further enrich the conference and benefit all member schools."
Starting in the 2024-25 school year the JPC will become a two divisions one champion conference. With this move the JPC hopes to create a more competitive schedule for all member schools throughout their seasons while still having one conference champion, in each sport, to keep the long-standing connections within the conference strong. Specific names for the two divisions are yet to be determined as we hope to gather input from our new member schools.
Jack Pine Conference 2024-25:
Bullock Creek, Clare, Gladwin, Ogemaw Heights, Shepherd, and Standish Sterling; Beaverton, Farwell, Harrison, Meridian, Pinconning, and St. Louis.
Enjoy!
