H.H.S. Character Counts Students of the Month

Every month Harrison High School recognizes those students who show exceptional character and a drive for success. The students need to have good attendance record and be nominated and decided upon by a panel of teachers. Several nominees are discussed but only one is granted the title of “Student of the Month.”

 

Great work students!  Harrison High School is proud to have representatives like you in its midst.

JROTC sponsors new plaque for HHS Students of the Month

 

Harrison High School is now in its 13th year of Character Counts Student of the Month. One student in each of the four grades is honored each month for exhibiting good character through his/her work ethic, responsibility, and being a good role model. Businesses donate coupons to the students, which HHS appreciates.

The following businesses are helping sponsor this school year:

Ryan Nance
9th Grade

     Born May 16th, 1993 to Anna Guarreno and Mike Nance, Ryan is the freshman Student of the Month.

     Here at HHS, this ninth grader is “Always willing to try new projects and works hard to complete them,” comments his art teacher, Mr. Humphres. Ryan also enjoys English and Wood Shop class. Shelby Berthiaume, Daniel Carlton, Dakota Ross, and Melissa Ash are some of his friends here.

     “Happy, fun, and funny” are three words young Mr. Nance uses to describe himself, and he says he likes to “play on the computer, work on my car, and play video games.” A career in welding or mechanics is something Ryan is contemplating for the future.

Taylor Suhan
10th Grade

     Also born July 31st (1993) is the sophomore Student of the Month, Taylor Suhan. Her parents are Bobbi Jo Withrow and Spencer Suhan.

     At HHS, Taylor is in Jr. ROTC and she also enjoys Contemporary Young Adult Literature. “She pays close attention to details and completes assignments without wasting time,” wrote Mrs. Oakley. “Taylor is a very nice student who is also involved with extra-curricular activities such as Natural Helpers,” wrote another. Some of her friends here are Taylor Kelts, Jacque Bourdon, Cassy Robinson, Kayla Hutchins, and Dustin Krchmar.

     In the future, this tenth grader is considering going to college to be a lawyer or legal secretary. “Talkative, pretty, and smart” are three adjectives Taylor uses to describe herself.

Matt Nunnally
11th Grade

     Our junior Student of the Month for May is Matt Nunnally, who moved to Harrison from Florida this winter. His parents are Cindy and Scott Nunnally, and Matt was born November 11th, 1991.

     “Since he has enrolled as a new student, he has great attendance, an excellent work ethic, and a responsible character,” his teacher Mrs. Pratt comments. She goes on to say that Matt is “a polite young man that has been a great addition to my class.”

     Here at HHS, Matt enjoys weightlifting and is planning on going out for football next fall. Andrew Kowalack, Dan Showalter, Brandon Brower, Collin Byington, Cale Ecklin, Niki Avery, and Jessie Dyke. He plans on going to college in the future.

     When not in school, this eleventh grader likes playing video games and football, and he describes himself as “nice, talkative when you get to know me, and caring.”

Nick Berthiaume
12th Grade

     Senior Student of the Month Nick Berthiaume was born to Deborah and Anthony Berthiaume on July 31st, 1991, and he just graduated from Harrison High School.

     Nick earned the “Turn-Around” Award recently at HHS, which signifies a student who has really improved from his/her freshman year till senior year. “He’s a good kid,” commented one of his teachers, as Nick worked hard to complete assignments and stay on task.

     In the future, young Mr. Berthiaume plans on going to college at MMCC.  He is interested in a career in art, and may go to an Art College.

     Quiet, respectful, and hard-working are three adjectives to describe this young man.
