JANUARY 10, 2008 AT MERIDIAN
January 10, 2008 the Harrison Varsity and Junior
Varsity Cheer teams traveled to Meridian High School for their first competition
of the season. The Varsity Team consists of 15 members this year.
Co-captains on the Harrison
Varsity Cheer team are Seniors Rebe
Henry and Chelsea Osborne. The Co-captains did a great job firing up
their team and getting them ready for the first of the year! Harrison Varsity
came at with the best jump scores, vocal
scores and floor mobility score that Coach Tammy Carlstrom’s teams have
ever began with in Round 1. Round 2 skills consist of a 10 count precision drill
and 5 skills that the entire team must perform completely all together. Harrison
Varsity has worked very hard on their skills for round 2 which consist of a
Toe-touch jump, back walk over, switch splits, heel stretch and a cartwheel. HHS
Varsity scored well and proved to them
that hard work does pay off! Round 3 was not as satisfying for HHS
Varsity. They did not hit this round as well as they can do, but this is the
first competition and now they know where they need to work and what to fix!
Scores for the Varsity Division for Round-1, Round-2 and Round-3 were as
followed:
1st place Houghton Lake 219, 204.3, 289.5=712.8
2nd place Midland Dow High 216, 205.9, 288=709.9
3rd place Harrison 202.5, 184.1, 273.5=660.1
4th place Meridian 190.5, 164, 253=607.5
5th place Farwell 189.5, 132.4, 220=541.9
6th place Roscommon 151, 108.9, 206=465.9
In the Junior Varsity Division the Harrison team began their season with 2 out
of the 12 girls ever competing before. Coach Kelly Taylor and the team started
out with hopes of hitting their skills as practiced and getting the first
competition jitters out of the way!
The JV scores were as followed:
1st place Houghton Lake 174.5, 164.3, 220=558.8
2nd place Midland Dow High 156, 159, 211=526
3rd place Meridian 154, 125.3218.5=497.8
4th place Harrison 154, 147.6, 192.5=494.1
The Junior High Division competes in Round-2 and Round-3 only. The Junior High
scores were as followed:
1st place Farwell 100.4, 245.5=345.9
2nd place Meridian 98.6, 193.5=292.1
Nice job Harrison Teams! The next competitions will be Thursday Jan. 17th @
Roscommon 6:30 pm and Saturday Jan.19th @ Farwell 10:00am. Hope to see you
there!
