Science - Explore the environment. Discuss everything.
- Plant seeds and care for plants.
- Describe and compare objects together.
- Keep track of the weather. Talk about the news.
Language Arts - Read books to your child everyday. Have your child retell the story to you.
- Have your child read take home books from school. Read signs, boxes, lists, logos.... everything!
- Point out and name letters and sounds.
- Play letter games or use flashcards to make sure your child knows the letters and sounds. Kindergartners will learn many sight words.
- Make lists, write letters, label everything, write together. Kindergartners are expected to learn to write sentences.
Math - Count anything and everything. Count to 100. Count by 10's. Count by 2's like pairs of shoes. Count by 5's.
- Play board games. Play + and - with numbers or toys.
- Look for and identify shapes, including 3D.
Social Studies - Discuss Patriotism & Individual Rights. ( Core Democratic Values)
- Identify times, morning, afternoon, evening, using hours, days, weeks, months, seasons, years.
- Discuss rules for home, school, community. (and consequences)
- Use money, recognize economic exchange.
Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep. We are busy! |
