Ms. Jensen and Mrs. Kreider’s Newsletter
Hello Everyone,
We have a very busy week ahead of us. We have two track meets and an awards assembly. I am going to fill you in on all the details in this letter. I hope to see everyone enjoying these days together.
On Tuesday May 13, 2008 we have our Hillside field day. Fifth and sixth grade classes will head over to the track in the morning to participate in the scheduled events. Each student will do each event. Students will then receive ribbons. Third and fourth grade will head over in the afternoon. Students need to wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothes they can do events in. I recommend sun screen if your child has sensitive skin. We will be back by lunch on this day. Our afternoon will be a normal one of learning. Parents are welcome to meet us at the track in the morning and follow us from event to event.
On Wednesday May 14, 2008 we have our Clare County Fifth grade track meet. We are fortunate to have it in Harrison this year. Once again we will walk over to the track. This usually beings around 9:15ish, once all the schools have arrived. Each student will receive their t-shirt that morning to wear to the track meet. Each student has a sack lunch. If your child would like a lunch from home that is okay too. I recommend: lots of water to drink, sunscreen, a hat, dress in layers to accommodate all types of weather, and tennis shoes are a must. There will be a concession stand available. I have included a price list of how much items will cost. Each student will participate in two events on this day, a field event and a running event. Students will remain seated and cheer on their classmates if they are not at an event. Students will be allowed to go the concession stand and bathrooms two times during the day, plus when returning from their events. This is to avoid any problems with other schools or messing around under the bleachers. This is a fun day for all of us. Let’s hope for good weather, as we are outside all day long. Parents are welcome to meet us at the track and sit with us throughout the day! Parents may take children home from the track meet, but they need to sign out with Mrs. Kreider or Ms. Jensen.
On Friday May 16, 2008 we have our Awards Presentation. Fifth grade’s assembly will begin at 1:00. Students will receive awards for several different areas. It is a wonderful celebration of what wonderful students we have here at Hillside. Of course, parents are wanted at this assembly. It means a lot to your children to see you sitting in the audience. Parents may check children out after the assembly in our classrooms.
Wow, what a week we have ahead of us. In between these times, we will continue to work hard in our classroom. We are wrapping up most of our units and introducing a few new things along the way.
Please note: Science Inventions are due on Thursday May 15.
Thank you
Ms. Jensen
