Dear 6^th grade Parents:

Welcome to the 6^th grade!  The 6^th grade staff would like to welcome all of the students for another year at Hillside.  We would like to make this year a transition year into the middle school.  The 6^th grade will be doing some switching of classes.  Mrs. Weaver will be teaching Language Arts, Mrs. Binder-Math, Mrs. Yenkel-Science and Mrs. Manz will be teaching Social Studies to all 6^th graders.    The 6^th graders are also going to have band available.  The attached schedule explains in detail your student’s daily schedule. 

In the 6^th grade classrooms, we will be following the attached classroom discipline plan.  It is very important that we work together to keep your child in the classroom willing to learn.  Please review the plan with your child and sign and return it to your child’s 6^th grade teacher.  Also in the 6^th grade we will be using agendas.  The students will be given one agenda to keep track of their school work in.  The agendas will also be used as bathroom/hall passes.  The students are responsible to keep track of their agendas at all times.  The agendas can go to and from school but they need to have them daily.  If the student loses or destroys their agenda they will have to pay $5 to replace it.  Students will have mailboxes in the classrooms, but it will be your child’s responsibility to take their mail home on Fridays.
